Volunteer
The Newmarket Food Pantry is staffed entirely by volunteers from our community, and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Volunteers are essential to the success of the Newmarket Food Pantry, each year hundreds of people volunteer thousands of hours collecting and sorting food donations, stocking shelves, serving our clients, and being advocates for the food pantry in our community. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all our volunteers who dedicate their time to helping others.

The Newmarket Food Pantry relies solely on the generous donations from our community – through food drives, fundraisers, and other events, as well as through food and cash donations.
The Newmarket Food Pantry is a registered charity, and we provide a charitable tax receipt for all monetary donations.
Food Donations
We cannot distribute outdated items, so don’t forget to check the “best before” dates on items before donating.
We accept food donations at the Newmarket Food Pantry, Saturday mornings at the Newmarket Farmers Market, and also at Good Vibes on Main.

The Newmarket Food Pantry is fuelled by our volunteers. We have had such an amazing response from the community, that we currently have the maximum number of volunteers we can support. Thank you to everyone who has taken an interest in the food pantry and the work we do.Please check back from time to time for more information about volunteering.
For now, the best way to support the food pantry is to host your own event.
Please note that we cannot currently accept high school students looking to fulfil their required hours.

What do I need to bring to the food bank in order to get groceries for my family?
When you visit the food pantry for food assistance it is important to bring the following with you:
- Identification for all family members
- Proof of current address
This information is asked for each time you visit for food assistance.
How many times am I able to come to the Food Pantry?
You are able to access the Newmarket Food Pantry once a month at which time you will receive three days of emergency food supplies.
How is the food bank funded?
The food bank is funded entirely through private and corporate donations, as well as through various grants. We are a registered charity and we provide tax receipts for all financial donations. You can make a financial donation through our website.
