Get Help

The Newmarket Food Pantry provides an emergency supply of three days of food to our clients, which includes fresh produce as well as canned, non-perishable items, baby needs, pet needs and toiletries.

The Newmarket Farmer’s Market generously donates fresh produce to the food pantry each week the market is open, and we are able to accept donations, both fresh produce and non-perishable at the market. We also accept fresh produce donations directly at the food pantry.

In addition to meeting the daily food needs of those most in need, the Newmarket Food Pantry also hosts a Turkey Drive at Thanksgiving and Christmas. In December 2017, the food pantry collected 720 turkeys, a portion of which was shared with the Georgian Food Pantry, Bradford Helping Hand and Inn from the Cold. We are deeply grateful for the support of the Newmarket community – thank you!

The Newmarket Food Pantry also provides our clients with information on other services available to them in the area, such as:
- Inn from the Cold
- Community Meal Programs
- Home Delivery assistance
- Other agency contacts

About Us
MISSION
The mission of the Newmarket Food Pantry is to coordinate the efforts of the community in providing supplementary nutritional support to thosein the Newmarket and East Gwillimbury areas who are unable to meet all of their dietary needs on their own.
VISION
The Food Pantry works with local businesses and community organizations to coordinate food drives, volunteer efforts (food pick ups, sorting sessions and distribution management) and to raise awareness of the needs of the community.
HISTORY
The Newmarket Food Pantry was originally formed in 1988 when local churches banded together to coordinate efforts and consolidate
resources. The Food Pantry’s first location was in the basement of the Old Town Hall.
When the Food Pantry first started in 1988, it averaged 25 visits a week from families in need. Local churches referred people and families in need to the Food Pantry, and supported community food drives. Since then, due to changing economic conditions and growth of the community, the needs of families have increased.
We currently average 350 visits a month and assist about 1,000 clients each month.
